HFC Information Assurance Alliance Club has been approved by the College. If you are interested in attending, contact Marrci Conner, MS, CISSP, at mrconner2@hfcc.edu. Marrci Conner is a full-time faculty in the CIS Department and the Faculty Advisor of the club.

February 17, 2012 — HFCC Information Assurance degree now mapped to CNSSI 4013 standard

On February 17, 2012, the Information Assurance degree program at Henry Ford Community College was approved as meeting all the elements of the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) National Training Standard for System Administrators (SA), CNSSI No. 4013 Entry Level.

February 17, 2012 — Research in Motion and Blackberry to Donate Devices and Write Case Study on HFC Mobile Application Development course

February 1, 2012 — HFC CIS Department to offer Mobile App course and Computer Repair Service Learning course

This coming Spring and Summer 2012 semesters, the HFC Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department will be offering two new courses. Both courses will be numbered CIS 299: Special Topics. CIS 299 Section 01 will be a Computer Support Service Learning course where students will work in a computer service and repair environment. The department is accepting donated computers from local companies, refurbishing these computers, and then donating them back into the community to local non-profit organizations. In addition, personal computers of HFC faculty and staff will be serviced upon request. This course will run 7 weeks (Spring only).

CIS 299 Section 02 will be the Mobile Application Development course where students will learn how to develop mobile apps for the iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, and Android platforms. This course will run 14 weeks (Spring-Summer). Spring semester starts May 8. The course is sure to fill very quickly so register early.
